Gasper’s global strings hits UK

From performing in Nordic skies in July this year, Babatoni player Gasper Nali’s global exploits continues with more concerts in the United Kingdom.

The Mzuzu-based artist left the country recently for a total of 11 gigs in the United Kingdom alongside Scotland-based David Street Rat Luhangah and Mattias from Sweden.

“This means more not for me but for Malawi. We need more artists performing in Europe, America and Asia. Our music is good,” he said Thursday.

Gasper’s first gig was in Brighton with other concerts coming up in Birmingham, Liverpool Edinburgh and Manchester with the last show in Nottingham next weekend.

In July this year the artist debuted at Forde Traditional and World Music Festival (Fordefestivalen).

This is Scandinavia’s largest international event for folk and acoustic world music, held annually in Forde, Norway.

Nali, who last year performed at Lake of Stars Festival, came to the limelight in 2015 when a video of his song ‘Abale Ndikuwuzeni’ went viral on social media.

The video brought the Babatoni player into contact with music producer Mattias Stalnacke and got the track released on Spare Dog Records and since then, he has dropped two albums namely Abale Ndikuwuzeni and Chule Chule Iwe.
